IODP Expedition 310: Tahiti Sea Level
Figure 4
Core to logs integration at its best! The optical and acoustic images allow an unambiguous correlation of core and core derived parameters (e.g. age, isotopes). When projecting the optical images (B) of the borehole wall in 2D they show a cross section of the formation of approximately 31 cm (depending on borehole diameter) compared to a 6.54 cm cross section through core (A). Continuous images in a borehole also allow a most accurate repositioning of core to its correct real depth below the sea floor or depth below present sea level.
