Education

The IODP provides a vast amount of scientific information that is of interest to all age groups. As IODP education activities are conducted at a national level to meet local curricula standards, teachers should contact the corresponding Program Member Offices in their countries. These are provided on the Education pages of the IODP website. In Europe, national offices can be contacted through ESSAC. The ECORD website also gives information about education events being organised in Europe.

During the Arctic Coring Expedition, two teachers were funded by the Swedish Polar Research Secretariat (SPRS) together with IODP to take part and report their experiences on the expedition. You can read the report of Swedish teacher Erik Zetterberg (here) and the American teacher Kathy Couchon's journal (here). For further information about the 'Teachers at Sea' Program, visit the IODP Education pages.

Examples of photographs and maps from the Arctic Coring Expedition are available in the ESO Photo Gallery. There are many more photographs from this expedition and the Tahiti Sea Level Expedition. Please contact Alan Stevenson, ESO Outreach Manager for further details.
